The Legal Defence and Assistance Project has approached a federal court in Lagos asking for an end to the ongoing Eko Atlantic City project and dredging of the Atlantic Ocean.
In a suit before? the Federal High Court, Lagos, LEDAP stated that the defendants did not conduct an Environmental Impact Assessment, as required by law, before embarking on the project.
The Eko Atlantic City, an ambitious project that involved reclaiming of land from the Atlantic Ocean,
?was ?started in 2003 by the Lagos State government as a permanent solution to the severe coastal erosion of Bar Beach.
