Governor Tanko Al-makura of Nasarawa state on Saturday kicked-off his re-election campaign with the commissioning of the Lafia square, venue of the APC presidential and governorship rally.

The 2000 capacity Lafia square which is only best by the Abuja Eagle square, was commissioned by the APC presidential candidate, General Muhammadu Buhari in company of Mr Al-makura and party leaders at the rally.

Thousands of APC supporters thronged the Jos-Makurdi road on foot as the road was closed to vehicles, to welcome Buhari and the APC campaign team, including over 20 PDP stalwarts who decamped to the APC in the state.

The streets and major roads connecting Makurdi to Jos through the heart of Lafia, the Nasarawa state capital had been shut down for APC presidential and governorship campaign flag-off.

The APC national chairman John Oyegun, began the rally by receiving into the party, leaders who decamped from the PDP into its fold in the state.

This was followed by an address by Al-makura, who urged the crowd of supporters to elect candidates of the APC at all levels.

The Coordinator National Youth Alliance for Buhari, Leonard Nzenwa, further noted that Buhari, who he described as upright and just, alone could fix the nations’ insecurity and corruption problems.
