Buhari

The All Progressives Congress (APC) Presidential Candidate, General Muhammadu Buhari (Rtd), has appealed to his supporters not to engage in any behaviour that would tarnish the image of anyone or promote division or rancour in the country.

Retired General Buhari made the appeal at the inauguration of the party’s Presidential Campaign Council in Abuja.

The APC presidential candidate condemned acts of violence in the run up to the elections and asked his supporters not engage in violent acts capable of overheating an already tense political environment.

He also appealed to his supporters not to insult or be rude to other aspirants or political leaders on his behalf.

He sympathised with the National Chairman of the party, Chief John Oyegun, over the attack on his home on Sunday night.

General Buhari’s condemnation of violence in the run up to the general elections came on the heels of the attack on the APC office in Rivers State and the burning of a PDP vehicle in Jos at the weekend.

Some APC members also condemned these actions, including elder statesman, Audu Ogbeh and Nassarawa APC member, Senator Adamu Abdullahi.

As the presidential campaign heats up, some party members also called for a clean and issue-based campaign, devoid of bitterness and rancour.

Party members also held a minute silence for Nigerians who were killed by Boko Haram in Baga, Borno State.
