A source who participated in the protest explained that, the youths later caught up with the car and forced it to a stop.

The source said “We stopped the car and find out it contains three Fulanis men and a Yoruba man. We insisted on carrying out a thorough searching on the car and we found a pistol and AR-15 gun with several bullets in the car.

We embarked on the search effort on the highway to secure the area and avoid recurrence of their nefarious activities. It is very disheartening.”

He added that it took the intervention of the Secretary of the farmers’ association in Ibarapa (Akowe Agbe), Mr Taiwo Adeagbo, accompanied by police officers who took the injured suspect to the general hospital for medical attention.

He explained that the youths embarked on the protest in the wake of recurring deaths and kidnapping that had suddenly started again in the region.

He said in the last few days, more than three death cases and four kidnapped cases had been reported among the residents, which led to the fury and anger by the youths in burning the car alongside the guns and bullets found in it.
