You won’t believe what Flood did to some parts of Abuja


Giri quarters, a suburb area in Abuja has been ravaged by floods.

Five people have lost their lives as a result of the flooding that occurred on Saturday, July 25.

The Director-General of the FCT Emergency Management Agency, Alhaji Abbas Idris confirmed to incident to journalists in Abuja and said one body has been found while search is ongoing for others.

The DG said, “There was a family of five at Giri Quarters that were swept away by a flood and we have recovered the body of a family member; we are still searching for the remaining four. There was no flood at Lokogoma, though it rained heavily. We are opening channels and drainage in Lokogoma, so the water has free access now.”

He added that some other areas in the FCT particularly Gwagwalada and Kuje experienced flooding as well.

Idris said his team has so far not had any fatalities in Gwagwalada, opposing unconfirmed reports that 30 people died as a result of the floods in the area.
