The All Progressive Congress has dissolved its National working committee

The ruling political party of Nigeria, the APC has dissolved its National Working Committee.

The decision to dissolve the committee was made at the last National Executive Council meeting held on Thursday.

Bashir Ahmad, an aide to the President Buhari, tweeted, “Following the recommendation of President Muhammadu Buhari, the National Working Committee (NWC) of the All Progressives Congress (APC) has been dissolved.”

The APC has been going through a tug of war between some of its members. A few weeks ago, some members of the NWC appointed senator Abiola Ajimobi as the acting chairman of the party, following the suspension of the chairman Comrade Adams Oshiomole.

Victor Giadom, who countered the move by addressing a press conference on June 17, when he declared himself as the acting chairman. He presented a judgment of the FCT high court, which in March gave him the authority to be the acting national chairman.

Despite his suspension by two courts in Port Harcourt and his replacement as the deputy national secretary, Giadom went ahead on Tuesday to issue a notice of the APC NEC meeting, which would hold today (Thursday).

But the Ajimobi NWC faction said Giadom has no right to call a NEC meeting as he isn’t the acting chairman.
