Security Alert: ISIS has entered South-Western States of Nigeria – Gani Adams


Gani Adams, the Aare Ona Kakanfo of Yorubaland has cried out about the strategic invasion of the Southwest regions of Nigeria by the deadly ISIS terrorists. He said not less than 500 armed men who are ISIS terrorists on power bikes were spotted lurking in the southwest forests path of Lusada. Lusada territory which shares boundary which so many communities, states and another country can put the lives of so many at risk. Lusada around the area of Ogun state and close to Lagos via Igbesa-Agbara route connects Sokoto to Igbo-Ora in Oyo state and also has paths that connect Benin Republic through the forest.

The Aare Ona Kakanfo revealed this during an interview with BBC calling the attention of the authorities in charge to take the right step to avoid a majour outbreak of bloodshed if the armed men invade the Yoruba communities. Col. Kunle Togun (retd.) who is the Chairman of Amotekun in Oyo state confirmed the invasion based on intelligence reports.

To mention a few cases, Bandits who moved in large numbers last weekend, killed more than two people and kidnapped two security operatives from their residences at Maraban Mararaban Rido and Juji communities under Chikun Local Government Area of Kaduna State.

Bandits also stormed Zamfara State in the early hours of 18th August, kidnapping the children of a former Commissioner for Local Government in the state, Alhaji Bello Dankande Gamji. They also killed the village head of Bugai and three other family members in Maido Ward of Kachia Local Government Area of Kaduna State on the same day.

Bandits who invaded Damba-Kasaya community, Chikun Council Area of Kaduna State also killed one person and abducted final year students of a Junior Secondary School along with other villagers.

Bandits shot and killed one person and injured several others at Gidangizo, Faskari Council of Katsina State. They also kidnapped a health worker at Mahuta, Dandume Council as they made away with property worth millions of Naira. The bandits who carried out this operation three weeks ago, came heavily armed in Motorcycles.

These armed men suspected to be West African ISIS members, operating with Guerrilla tactics and generally categorized as armed bandits as they penetrate the rural and developing areas of Nigeria with an avalanche of terror have successfully made news headlines since the Covid-19 Lock-down. The true identities of these terrorists as well as their missions are yet to be clearly defined. However, their strategic sourcing for money, creating of an atmosphere of fear and intimidation as well exhibition of their weapon power is very obvious.

Gani Adams has revealed his concerns especially while putting the level of bandit operation in progress across Nigeria in perspective.
