RB Leipzig boss denies Chelsea agreement for Timo Werner

RB Leipzig chief Oliver Mintzlaff has denied across the board reports that Chelsea have concurred an arrangement to sign Timo Werner this mid year.

Reports this week recommended that the Blues had set off Werner’s £53.8m release clause and concurred a five-year deal worth £200,000 every week with the 24-year-old.

In any case, preceding this current evening’s match among Leipzig and SC Paderborn, Mintzlaff denied that there has been any official methodology from Frank Lampard’s side.

“We haven’t had an exchange with Chelsea yet,” he told reporters.

“So far, Timo Werner has not drawn the clause, nor has a club sent a transfer contract.”

Werner, who has scored 31 goals over all rivalries this season, was vigorously connected with a transition to Liverpool before the Chelsea reports developed.
