Nigerian-American basketballer dies of a heart attack during training


Nigerian-American basketballer Michael Ojo died of a heart attack during training in Serbia on Friday.

According to media sources Michael who was in practice by himself collapsed while he was running.

He was said to have shown no signs of any discomfort during his time at Serbia. He was aged 27.

He was then rushed to the hospital from Partizan’s stadium where he was practicing and was pronounced dead when the doctors weren’t able to resuscitate him.

Michael kicked off his professional career at FMP Belgrade Serbia after spending 5 years at Florida State, after which he played two seasons for Crvena Zvezda.

His team clinched the 2018 ABA SuperCup and the ABA League as well as the Serbian League in 2019.

The NBBF president, Musa Ahmadu-Kida, paid tribute to the late basketball player, “This is another flower that unexpectedly withered at such a time it was expected to start blossoming,”
