NAFDAC concludes laboratory analysis on Madagascar Covid-organics

The National Agency for Drug Administration and Control has concluded its laboratory analysis on the popular Madagascar COVID-19 drug named Covid-organics.

Samples of the drug was handed over to NAFDAC in May by the federal government to conduct some analysis to determine its potentials, safety and efficacy.

Samples of Covid-organics was also shared with the National Institute for Pharmaceutical Research and Development, and the Nigerian Institute of Medical Research, to also carry out necessary research.

A top official in NAFDAC said the analysis has been completed and will be handed over to the PTF soon.

The source said, “NAFDAC’s laboratory people have concluded their own analysis. The agency’s director of laboratories will forward it to the Director-General and the DG will forward it to the Minister of Health who is a member of the Presidential Task Force.

“So, it is a procedural thing. Whether it can cure or not, I cannot say until the report gets to the DG and to the minister.”

However, the NIPRD has stated that after conducting analysis on the drug samples, it concluded that Covid-organics could not cure COVID-19, contrary to the claim by the Madagascar authorities.
