Lagos house of assembly pass vote of confidence in speaker Obasa

The Lagos State House of Assembly this Monday unanimously passed a vote of confidence in the speaker of the house, Mudashiru Obasa, after the speaker was cleared of corruption charges.

The News Agency of Nigeria reports that the House unanimously passed the vote of confidence through a voice vote conducted by the Majority Leader, Mr Sanai Agunbiade, who acted as the speaker during the plenary.

NAN reports that this followed the presentation of the report of a nine-member fact-finding adhoc committee which was headed by Mr Victor Akande (Ojo Constituency 1) during plenary.

The committee was set up to investigate the corruption allegations levelled against the speaker.

The speaker on Saturday appeared before state assembly panel to defend himself on corruption allegations.

Mr. Mudashiru told the panel that the allegations against him were not true.

When Akande presented the report during plenary, he stated that all allegations made against the speaker were false and frivolous citing that the speaker followed the right and due processes in the purchases.
