Imama Amapakabo is ready to return to NPFL action

The Abia Warriors head coach, Imama Amapakabo, says he is very eager to get back to action after a long break following the outbreak of the coronavirus pandemic.

The former U-23 national team coach was unveiled as the head coach of the Nigeria Professional Football League side in June following the resignation of Cameroonian Emmanuel Deutsch.

The league has been on hold since March after it was initially suspended but was later brought to an abrupt end.

With the NPFL 2020/21 season set to resume December 6, Imama told journalists that he believed it was time to put what he had learnt into practice.

He said, “Initially it was a holiday but after a while it became a bit too much for us and we had to do a bit that we could in respect of getting back to football in any way we can.

“This was done through Zoom meetings, watching television and updating in any form one can through the internet.

“I am eager to put all these into practice because the physicality of football makes it what it is and without football being a physical thing, it is not what it is.”
