How I Defeated Amaechi In Rivers – Gov. Wike


Governor Nyesom Wike of Rivers State on Saturday revisited the rival­ry between him and Min­ister of Transportation, Rotimi Amaechi.

He recalled that the trans­port minister and former governor, under whose gov­ernment he served as Chief of Staff, did everything he could to truncate his politi­cal career, but failed.

The governor, who at­tributed his success in life to his faith in God and edu­cation, said his political life, just like that of Peter Odili, had been a lesson in devo­tion, hard work and passion for success and service.

“But, midway into his first tenure, I got the sig­nal early enough that I have become a foe and pen­cilled down to be politically brought down, extinguished or terminated.”

Wike explained that al­though his predecessor had reluctantly included his name among those he nom­inated to former President Goodluck Jonathan to be ap­pointed as minister, he was never his first or preferred choice.
