Gov. Akeredolu wins APC governorship primaries


The governor of Ondo state, Mr. Rotimi Akeredolu has emerged as the flag-bearer of the All Progressives Congress, APC in the state after defeating seven other candidates.

According to the results the governor won in all local governments.

From the results Akeredolu had 2,458 votes, Chief Olusola Oke emerged second, with 262 votes. Mr Isaac Kekemeke was third with19 votes.

It was learnt that some other aspirants in the APC stepped down for governor Akeredolu after being persuaded by the national leader of the party.

A source from the party said “There was a serious meeting with the reconciliation committee led by Governor Sani Bello of Niger State with some of the aspirants over the weekend; this is the result of the meeting.”

“In line with the party decision and respect of party supremacy, I hereby announce my stepping down from the APC 2020 gubernatorial primary election of our dear state.

This decision was made in support of the candidacy of Governor Rotimi Akeredolu, after much consultation across and within party lines.”
