Ekiti Polls: Oyebanji tells court to dismiss suit against nomination


The All Progressives Congress (APC) in Ekiti State and the Governor-elect, Biodun Oyebanji, have urged a Federal High Court in Ado Ekiti to dismiss a suit filed by an aggrieved aspirant, Kayode Ojo, who is challenging his emergence as the party’s candidate at the January 27 governorship primary.

The APC and Mr Oyebanji, who are the first and second defendants in the suit filed by Mr Ojo, maintained that the direct primary held in all the 177 wards in the state were valid and were in compliance with the Nigerian Constitution, the Electoral Act 2010, and the constitution and guidelines of the party.

Mr Oyebanji, after emerging as the party’s candidate, became the eventual winner of the governorship election, defeating both the PDP and SDP candidates. Continue Reading
