Armed motorcyclists kills 8 people in Niger Republic


In the town of Kouré, eight people lost their lives as a result of an attack by unidentified gunmen on motorcycles.

Six of the people who died were French nationals and the other two were Nigerians; one tour guide and the other was a driver. The incident took place at around 11:30am yesterday.

Tidjani Ibrahim Katiella, governor of Tillabéri confirmed the incident.

Tillabéri shares its borders with Mali and Burkina Faso and is quite an unstable city.

It is believed that the gunmen intended and were waiting to kill the tourists.

Kouré is a town which has the last herd of giraffes in West Africa.
