APC screens Edo governorship aspirants

The Governor of Edo state, Godwin Obaseki has expressed his concerns that he is likely not to be giving a fair trial at the screening exercise as the National Chairman of All Progressives Congress, Adams Oshiomhole was the “judge” in the case.

The Governor said this to journalists soon after undergoing two hours of intense screening at the party’s headquarters, in Abuja on Wednesday.

Obaseki said, “The last time I came here, I asked that Oshiomhole recuse himself from the process in the interest of peace and justice. But as a party man, I have had to go through the screening like everybody else.

He said he has tendered all his information including the highly controversial University of Ibadan certificate.

He said one of the questions he was asked was why did he issue a gazette that prevents the party from direct elections.

The governor said politics should never come before the lives of the people of Edo state.

Besides the governor who was screened, four other aspirants were screened as well: Osaro Obaze, Chris Ogiemwonyi, Pastor Osagie Ize-Iyamu, and Dr. Pius Odubu.
