28 feared dead as gas tanker explodes in Kogi


Not less 28 individuals were killed on Wednesday when a gas tanker exploded in the central Nigerian state of Kogi and began a blaze, a road safety official said.

Bisi Kazeem, spokesman for the Federal Road Safety Corp (FRSC), said nine kids were associated with the mishap, which occurred opposite a gas station along Lokoja-Zariagi highway in the state.

Governor Yahaya Bello said in an announcement the mishap, which happened early on Wednesday, prompted loss of lives and devastated numerous vehicles, properties and different assets in the tanker fire.

Car crashes are regular in Nigeria, where roads are awful and safety standards poor.
