Update: 15 confirmed dead 8 rescued alive at Ikoyi building collapse site – See details


Fojusi earlier reported the collapse of a building at Ikoyi yesterday afternoon. Rescue mission which started immediately after the incident by the staffs of the Lagos State Emergency Agency has continued relentlessly with a lot of resources channeled into it to recover as many victims as possible alive. So far fifteen people have been confirmed dead while eight people have been rescued alive.

While this operation is going on, family members of those who were at work at the building as at time of collapse are still hopeful that their loved ones will return alive. The Chairman of the Nigerian Institute of Architects, Lagos State Chapter, David Majekodunmi, who visited the site of the building collapse lamented the negligence of the authorities involved who could have successfully prevented such calamity.

Heavy duty machines are still on site clearing out the rubbles and strategic rescue continues.
