London’s Design Museum has shortlisted the Super Eagles’ jersey, launched at the World Cup, for the Beazley designs of the year award.

The award is one of the most prestigious honours in the world of design.

The green and black wavy jersey was nominated alongside work by Gucci, Burberry, and the costumes from Black Panther.

The Super Eagles had a below-par performance in Russia but the jersey was a major hit.

In all, 87 designs were nominated for the Beazley designs of the year award.

Hundreds of design experts from around the world nominate the most innovative and thought-provoking designs from the past 12 months for the awards.

Designs across six categories; architecture, digital, fashion, product, graphics, and transport have been shortlisted every year since 2008.

A winner in each category will be announced on November 15, and an overall winner will win the design of the year.

Previous winners of the top prize include Edward Barber and Jay Osgerby for the London 2012 Olympic Torch and Shephard Fairey for his Barack Obama Hope poster.

Before the World Cup, British GQ ranked the Super Eagles’ kit as the best and described it as “eccentric and off-the-wall in the best possible way”.
