Watch Obama Lead A Powerful Rendition Of ‘Amazing Grace’ At Clementa Pinckney’s Funeral

0

President Barack Obama led the crowd at Rev. Clementa Pinckney’s funeral in a stirring rendition of “Amazing Grace” Friday.
At the end of his impassioned eulogy for Pinckney, one of the nine people shot and killed at Charleston’s Emanuel African Methodist Episcopal Church last week, Obama broke into the hymn.
“If we can find that grace, anything is possible. If we can tap that grace, everything could change. Amazing grace,” he said before beginning to sing.
As the crowd joined him in song, Obama named the shooting victims.
“Clementa Pinckney found that grace. Cynthia Hurd found that grace. Susie Jackson found that grace. Ethel Lance found that grace. DePayne Middleton-Doctor that grace. Tywanza Sanders found that
grace. Daniel L. Simmons Sr. found that grace. Sharonda Singleton found that grace. Myra Thompson found that grace,” he said. “Through the example of their lives, they’ve now passed it on to us. May we find ourselves worthy of that precious and extraordinary gift as long as our lives endure. May grace now lead them home. May God continue to shed his grace on the United States of America.”

Court Upholds Judgment Stopping Kashamu’s Extradition Process

Kashamu

The Federal High Court sitting in Lagos has restated the validity of the judgment which restrained the commencement of any extradition process against Senator Buruji Kashamu.

Justice Ibrahim Buba, in a judgment delivered today (Tuesday) on a contempt application filed by Senator Kashamu against the Attorney General of the Federation (AGF) and the Chairman of the National Drug Law Enforcement Agency (NDLEA), Ahmadu Giade, held that the order made by another judge of the court, Justice Okon Abang “is still subsisting and must be complied with until it is set aside by a superior court.”

Justice Buba dismissed a preliminary objection filed by the NDLEA and then warned the AGF and the NDLEA Chairman to be of good conduct and obey the subsisting order of the court.

Counsel on both sides spoke to our judiciary correspondent, Shola Soyele about the import of this judgment on the extradition suit pending against Senator Kashamu before Justice Gabriel Kolawole of the Federal high court in Abuja.
